I might consider two (as I did this past year) but would not do three. If you can afford it maybe stay in Amsterdam the whole time.

We also enjoy B&Bs, Inns, or even renting a bedroom in someone's home so we can connect with the local host on a daily basis. Any specific recommendations for places to stay? We typically stay in a mix of accommodations, but mostly vacation rentals and hotels. Should we rent a car for all or part of our trip, or rely exclusively on public transportation and bike rentals?Ĥ. If we stay in different locations, how best to coordinate the timing of these moves with the different events of the Tulip Festival?ģ. Should we pick one base of operations for the entire 17 days? We think 1-3 locations might be good, with Amsterdam being one of them.Ģ. After scouring this TA Forum, we have the beginnings of a pretty good list of things to do, and we will hone these in the months to come.ġ. We like museums, history, architecture, nature, food/ wine, and nightlife (live music). The main purpose for this post is to get input on logistics, so we can start booking accommodations and car (if needed).Īlthough the tulips are bringing us to The Netherlands for April 2023 for the very first time, we are very interested in many other things. The Flower Parade is scheduled for Ap(which also happens to be Earth Day!). I'm guessing we will want to return to the Gardens later in the month due to the new blooms. This will allow us to go to the Gardens on either April 9 (Easter Sunday) or April 10, depending on the weather. We understand that the Keukenhof Gardens have a wonderful Easter weekend (April 7-10, 2023), so that is why we are arriving on April 8. We picked these dates to give us the greatest chance of seeing the peak tulips, but also hyacinths and other spring flowers.
Based on everything I've read so far, we are planning to be in the The Netherlands for 17 days, arriving (from within Europe) on Easter Saturday, April 8 and departing for home on April 25. The Tulip Festival has been on our list for many years and 2023 is finally the year! My wife and I are doing our planning now due to the popularity of this world renowned event.
